I also have a series on my other blog that talks about things that ticked me off this week,so if you want to check that out click http://www.interwebschic.com/2014/03/things-that-ticked-me-off-this-past-week.html now on to.

Flake

ELF TINTED MOISTURIZER SPF 20

I saw it and thought I would love it, but I didn't. I will say a little goes a long way with this, because it wouldn't go into my skin and it ended up looking streaky and patchy.

Fab

SEPHORA WATER PROOF JUMBO EYE PENCIL 12HR WEAR

This lil or Jumbo pencil has saved many eye shadows from the trash. I apply this to my lid and it gives life to any shade I apply to it. it give a nice white pearled base. I have a warning though. Don't blend it out with a swipe, I found that patting is best and sharpen before use, when it gets dry it can get patchy, but other than that it is a great base for the eyes or a inner eye brightener.

MERLOT GRAPE SEED EYE CREAM

As a kid, have you ever put glue all over your hand and peeled it off? Well, that is exactly what this looks like and feels like. Don't get me wrong I am no expert on eye creams, but aren't they supposed to moisturize the eye area? For me this was the exact opposite. I will say that it does reduce puffiness because it makes my under eye area so tight and dry that it enhances my fine lines and wrinkles in my eye area. I really wanted to like this, I have heard good things about it, but for me it just didn't.

Thursday

Is it wrong to ask for help?

Hello, beautiful :)

Today I wanted to ask you a question. As a blogger, there are certain things that are shunned upon, blogger bashing, false reviews, being full of yourself, not being apart of the community and other things like that. So my question to you is.

Is it wrong to ask for help?

This is something that I have been thinking about for a while and was very afraid to do anything about it.
My plan is for my Blog and Youtube channel to grow and I want to run it full time, This is something that has been a dream of mine for a long time now. Truth being told I had to actually talk my husband into me taking on this venture. He isn't big on social media and me being out there in the internet world. So This has actually been a year in the making before I posted anything. I had to make sure my household was going to support me and to be honest, he supports me even though he doesn't like it.

So getting back to my point is that, this has been very hard for me to get going and I have been scrimping and scraping all that I can to get it going and it has been great, to me anyway. He still doesn't see it. But he is on board. Now, my problem is I have kids and filming during the day is impossible, thats why most of my videos are filmed with music over them. There is a lot of footage of me stopping my eye makeup to deal with the kids and a lot of me yelling down the hall. This has become very discouraging for me and there have been times where I have just turned off the webcam and walked away with a half of my face done. either something had to be done or the sun went down and I lost my window to film in decent light.

I really want to be able to film at night without a problem, when the kids are asleep and the day is done.
I want to be able to turn on the lights and film without the worry of my coloring being off and whole video wasted because everything is washed out. Right now I film with a webcam and its ok for reviews and tags, but tutorials or GRWM videos are almost impossible to do.

I went to the site gofundme.com and I set up an account. This website allows you to place your need, want, wish, etc. You set a amount you need and generous people make donations to your cause. Which is really a great idea, but I chickened out and didn't put the link anywhere for fear that people will not like the idea of my asking for help.

A blogger friend of mine set one up and when I saw it I wanted to cry, she had the guts to do something I didn't. I went to her account and tried to give what I had in my paypal, but I had less than the $5 minimum.
So I couldn't donate to her. Which made me feel even worse.

So my question to you is, Is it wrong to ask for help?

Things that ticked me off this past week

Things that ticked me off this past week

Okay, So we have made it through another week and here we are with another ticked off thursday.
You may be saying to yourself, hmm she gets ticked off a lot. I do, sometimes things just tick me off and I want to tell you about them :)

Things that ticked me off this past week.

I have noticed that my blog growth has slowed down since I have become more active, which makes no sense. When I did post as often, people followed more.

I also have a problem when I film my videos, it really takes alot out of me and I cant film with ease, but who does film with ease?

My editing software keeps crashing as I am doing more intricate stuff with my editing, so I had to switch to a better program, but its the free version and I cant afford the full version yet.

I signed up with gofundme.com to get some help in getting a better camera for videos and a lighting setup, but I chickend out and didn't post it, so it sitting on the website awaiting me to post it.

Now that I have though of these things I am ticked off again!
What has ticked you off this week?

How to get your blog seen on mobile devices.

How to get your blog seen on mobile devices.

Did you know that not all mobile devices can view your blog properly? Images over lap, words go off screen and worst your images can block your entire post! So today we will be talking about,

How to get your blog seen on mobile devices.

If you have ever been into the Template section of blogger you will notice a section that looks like this.

How to get your blog seen on mobile devices.

The section on the right titled mobile shows you what your blog will look like on a mobile device.
Now this is fine for blog post and pictures, but Google Adsense doesn't like this very much.

The reason is that the ads get distorted in mobile view and don't look very pleasant and then Adsense tells you, you're site isn't optimized for all browsers. Why is this important to you?

Ad Impressions.

Every time your ad gets seen even if its not clicked you get paid, not  a lot, but still paid.
So the advertisers want these ads seen in a good light, not in a oh, my goodness, why wont this get out of my way? Kinda light.

How to Optimize your Blog for all browsers.

Go into your template section of blogger.
Click the Gear Icon under the Mobile Section.
On the pop up menu select the "NO" Option.
Click save.

Okay, so what we have just done is changed our blog view to its natural state, ads, links, widgets, etc..

You can test this from your tablet or smart phone.

(Note) I personally adjusted the width of my blog to 1200 for the main section and gave 400 for the side bar.

Special thanks to Jamie, my Daughter for the lovely Graphic for this post!

As always if this has confused you in anyway, Contact me :)

Tuesday

Just let it go...

Just let it go... TheMakeupSquid.com

The other day was one of those days where I felt like I was pulling teeth. I took a shower, Exfoliated, moisturized, plucked my brows, dried and styled my hair and was ready to put my face on.

I sat cross legged in front of my mirror with all my toys in front of me, palettes, Primers and brushes.
So I did what any makeup junkie would do I dove right in. If you know anything about me its that I never plan any of my looks, they just happen and what ever colors draw my attention those are the ones I work with.

I got to the point of choosing a crease color, I choose a nice taupe matte shade perfect for a crease/transition shade. No good, it wouldn't blend, so naturally I got nervous, thinking something went wrong with my palette an it dried up. Nope, it spread fine on my hand and felt velvety soft on my finger.

I couldn't figure it out, so I wiped away all traces of what I started and began again this time with a different crease color from a different palette. No good, same result. It felt like I was rubbing fine sand on my linds.

I couldn't figure it out and by  the third try I said, Laurie, Just let it go...

Sometimes our faces or timing isn't right for a full face of makeup and on those days you should pamper your face with a good exfoliator or a nice mask and that is just what I did.

Have you ever had a day where you just couldn't get a look going and had to let it go?

Here is a video of me and my Girl masking it up, enjoy :)

We are currently asking everyone for questions, so that we ca answer during filming so enter them down below:)

Sunday

Urban Decay SmashBox MC2 Palette Matte Comparison

Hello, beautiful!

Today was a lazy Sunday, I didn't sleep until 7am and I was just in a blah mood, so into the shower I went.
The shower felt great and got me in a good mood, thinking about what to film and which product I wanted to blog about today.

I dried and flat ironed my hair, then it was makeup time and let me tell you, no matter how I tired I couldn't get a look going. I used the Naked Basics Palette and the Smashbox Master Class Palette, now if you can't get a look out of those two palettes combined, then something is wrong! So I literally tried three times, meaning taking it off and trying again! So I finally gave up and said not tonight.

Heart broken I began to pack my toys away and was trying to figure out why my shadows wouldn't blend or stay put on my eyes, I noticed that the Naked Basics Palette and the SmashBox MC2 Palette have the same colors and I wanted to compare the two palettes against each other.

As you can see they are very much alike besides the second color from the left.
With a touch test they both feel nice, but Naked Basics feels velvety but dryer.

They are all matte shades and as you can see The Naked basics is way more pigmented.
The MC2 Palette Blends a lot easier.

The MC2 Palette has 28 shadows, 6 blush bronzers and 2 highlighters, as well as four gel liners.

Naked basics has 6 shadows total, one of which is a shimmer used for a brow highlight.

I love both of these Palettes, but for some reason NB is very hard for me to work with in regards to blending. I find myself reaching for the SBMC2 Palette more.
