Saturday
Don't end up looking like a shiny Oompa Loompa.
Okay, so I have been back for a while now. I cannot believe how much I have missed blogging and making YouTube videos. Right now I am filming in a bedroom we have turned into a closest because, there are no closets in this house! This did not go very well for us in the beginning, especially with my husbands insane T-shirt collection.
I found my self a wonderful window that gets natural light pretty much as long as the sun is up, so its perfect.
I have been trying to figure out my webcam and I have come up with a few things that I found to be important, Like place your camera a few feet in front of your light source, followed by you being a few feet away from the camera and work that zoom feature.
I work with a webcam so I have to kill the auto focus and the auto light, so I don't end up looking like a shiny Oompa Loompa.
If you look like this on video stop and re adjust your settings.
I received a product for review, today was the first day I used it and I am pretty happy with it. I just have to figure out how to make a blog post and video on it when the time comes.
I joined Linkedin, I always ignored that social media platform for some reason. Come to find out its pretty awesome. It's kind of a cross between twitter, facebook, and google+, but more for professionals so if you want to be seen by PR reps get one! It's still new to me and I cant find my own timeline, but I have 111 contacts so far and its only been a day, so I think its working hehe.
I wrote a post on themakeupsquid.com about how to tell if your a beauty blogger. So with that I found a lot out about me and my passion.

You know your a beauty blogger when...
Sometimes when I am running around the house like a mad woman in sweat pants and my hair in a knot dealing with the cleaning, cooking, laundry, kids, phone calls and everything else the day throws at me, I sometimes catch my reflection in the mirror and I always ask myself the same question "Am I a Beauty Blogger?" I mean, who wants to hear the woman covered in a mixture of boogers, fabric softener and tomato paste talk about the new eye shadow palette?
So I sat down and went through this is my head and seriously asked myself this question.
Here are a few of my thoughts on what makes me a Beauty Blogger.
- You get really excited when its your turn to make a drug store run.
- Your favorite aisle at the market is the beauty aisle.
- You ask to be left alone while your in your favorite beauty store.
- You want to swatch anything and everything.
- You give advice while shopping at your favorite beauty store.
- You find new ways to take photos of beauty products.
- When you come up with a Title before a actual post.
- You start reviewing everyday items in your head.
- Beauty sales become very, very important.
- You try to keep your products in as close to new condition as possible.
- You get anxious when you know you haven't posted in a while.
- You know when IMATS is coming to your area.
- You have gained a new respect for unknown brands.
- You learned that cheap products can be just as great as expensive.
- Daylight has become your best friend.
- You have learned things about photography you wouldn't normally.
- You watermark everything you post.
Okay, so that's what I think. What about you? What would you add to this list?

Bloglovin Challenge
Okay so here is the problem, I have a Bloglovin button on both of my blogs and they are getting quite the attention lately. I am not complaining, but I do have a personal policy to follow anyone who follows me especially on Bloglovin. So my problem is I haven't been very fair. I have followed everyone back who is following me, But have I read any one those posts? Nope, not a one. And I feel this is terrible of me as a follower of any blog. I mean I would hate to have all these followers and they don't or wont read my posts.
So, I am putting myself to the challenge of actually reading the blogs I am subscribed to. I am calling it the Bloglovin Challenge. I did however have to hit the dreaded marks all as read button, so I can get a fresh start. I don't know how many blogs I follow through Bloglovin, but I will attempt to read and comment on as many as I can as they are posted. I will leave a comment and a link behind every post.
What are your Bloglovin habits? Do you actually use Bloglovin?

Too Faced Romantic Palette
I posted a picture on instagram the other day, asking my followers what palette I should use to create a look and the TooFaced Romantic Palette received the most votes. I am going to be honest I had to do this look twice due to technical difficulties, but the second look cam out way better then the first.
Let's get into the products.
TooFace Romantic Palette
The Packaging is so feminine on theses palettes I always keep it showing on my vanity. It is made of a sturdy card board and has a magnetic feel when closing and opening.
As you can see I love this palette! The shades are very pigmented and buttery soft. All the shades blend well, as you can see there are some fall out issues, but nothing to stop you from loving this palette.
Bouquet Toss all over the lid
Ever After in the crease
First Dance in the outer corner
I Do to blend the brow bone
Face
I started with L'Oreal magic skin beautifier BB cream, I truly love this product it gives me a clean and even face.
I applied my favorite foundation the Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet+. This foundation gives great coverage without feeling heavy on the skin.
I used Elf Conceal Everything Concealer. This concealer is great as a highlighter, it gives a nice glow to the face in areas you want to brighten.
Powder
Love this powder for finishing any look.
Eyes
I used Urban Decay Primer Potion to Prime my eyes for staying power. I used my favorite eyeliner Urban Decay 24/7 in Zero to line my eyes. The Mascara I used is the SmashBox Full Exposure mascara, I use this mascara when I wear false lashes. I filled in my brows with Anastasia of Beverly Hills brow pencil in brunette and the matte brow bone highlighter. Followed by my Milani Eye Tech liquid liner to finish off the look.
Lips
I applied TooFaced Lip Insurance to my lips to smooth and prime them for color. I lined my lips with a Milani pencil and covered them with a Make Up For Ever lipstick
Contour
I used Suntan from the SmashBox Pro 2 Palette to contour my face. I love the sheer coverage it gives to areas I want contoured without over doing it.
HighLight
Shimmer from SmashBox Pro 2 Palette. I love this shade for highlighting!
The finished look.
Here is a video showing how I used the products listed.

Filming with a webcam
If you know me, then you know I make or I should say try to make beauty videos on YouTube.
The main thing you need to know about beauty videos is lighting and video quality.
The best source of light for a beauty video will always be natural lighting, so I placed my make shift vanity in front of a window that gets great light most of the day, however video quality is a problem for me.
I am currently using the Logitech C615 webcam. I do have a Nikon CoolPix camera, but it runs on batteries and when filming in HD I get like about 20 mins of footage and it doesn't pic up color well.
The webcam works well for reviews and just speaking to the camera, but for actual tutorials it gets really bad. The colors of the products don't show up well and when I try to adjust it I get really orange or washed out.
I really want a camera that pics up color well and films in HD. It doesn't have to be a fancy one, just as long as it does the job.
I am going to be experimenting with my webcam and try to get a better quality video up.
I love making my videos and enjoy every aspect of it, but I would like my finished product to be seen. I have been so dissapointed in my tutorial videos. when you watch my videos it looks like I always wear the same colors, but I am not.
