NYX LIP PENCIL - ORANGE

Hello, My Beauties!

I am back with another favorite of mine! I love nude lips, I always have and I always will. No matter what the trends are at the time, I always find myself going back to my nude lips. I feel they compliment me better than any actual color. But don't get me wrong, I always find a way to add some color or drama to my nudies! A color I often reach for during the summer is a bold orange, no matter what your eyes are doing and nude lip with a bold orange blended well will always speak louder than the brightest fuscia, to me anyways haha.

Beauty Secrets Everyone Should Know

Hello, Beautiful!

When I hear the word secret, the things that come to mind are friends and their dirty little secrets. I mean there has to be someone in this big world that knows that stupid thing you did with you know who long ago. Right? Thank heavens, I thought it was just me :) What if we couldn't trust that person? What if that person decided to spill the beans? How would I handle it? What would I do? The horror!!

Well, thankfully I am at the stage in my life where I just don't care who knows what anymore. I can tell you it's a very liberating feeling. So since we are on the subject of secrets I wanted to share some secrets that I have found around the net pertaining to beauty and makeup. Some of these are tricks of the trade and some just make you go aha!

BEAUTY SECRETS EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW

Skin

Adding that milk of magnesia works best on normal, oily, and combination skin and helps minimize pores, evens out skin tone, and keeps foundation from oxidizing and changing color. I know during the summer months I am going to be doing this for sure.

Lashes

Bring lashes out with gel eyeliner and a lash curler, First, take the lash curler and paint the liner on the sponge area of the lash curler. Wait about 10 to 15 seconds to let the liner dry slightly. Then, place the curler as close to the lash line as possible, hold for a few seconds, and release. After, apply a few coats of clear mascara to finish the look. It creates the perfect full lash and defined lash line but the look is a bit more natural and edgy. This sounds so nice for the days when you want a little something, but don't wanna go all the way.

Lips

Trace the outer edge of the top lip with a highlighter, concentrating the product at the Cupid’s bow and fading out towards the outer edges, a pearled cream highlighter is perfect for creating this effect. I personally do this often as my lips are disappearing as I get older,

Brows

Dust a bit of translucent powder using a small brush over your brows before setting them with a tinted brow gel, it immediately boosts the brow hairs and amplifies your natural brow shape even if you have fine or thin brows. Then just fill in any sparse areas with a pencil to get the definition you need. I know my powders always enhance my facial hair, so this makes sense to me.

Do you have any secrets to tell? Do share, I promise I won't will tell.

How to make your own lip colors

Today I wanted to share with you how I create a lip color I wear often and always get compliments and questions about. First of all let me tell you I do not own a red lipstick. There is nothing wrong with this color but when I go to buy a lipstick it is never red.

So when I want a little more pop to my lips there are steps I take to achieve this lip color.
Today I am going to share my method with you.

This is the color we are going to achieve today. I describe it as a plum wine Merlot type color of some gold shimmer. I like this color for the winter months because it adds life to any look.

The are the tools used to get my lip color, I know its a lot of different products but, I also like the fact that I can control the shimmer and depth of the lip color, depending on my mood :)

Before I apply anything to mu lips I always moisturize them and apply my trusty lip primer,
Lip Insurance from Too Faced. I like this product because it helps fill in fine lines on my lips an gives my lip colors and added staying power.

Second I line and fill in my lips with a dark liner. The one I use is Night Moth from MAC.
This color is a dark taupe shade with a hint of deep brown.

Third I take Elf Matte Lip Color in Rich Red and apply to my lips over the dark liner.
This step enhances the richness of the lip color but also washes out the harshness of the dark liner.

So I am left with a nice wash of a deep berry color, its not to dark, but at the same time gives color.

Fourth I take a Gold Shadow, anyone will do really, but here I am using Spontaneous from Stilla.
I apply this to the center of my upper and bottom lips.
This step adds depth and dimension to the lips, makes any lip color more fun and unique.

As you can see I have my wine color with a touch gold, now it may seem over whelming, but I promise with will make sense at the end :)

Fifth add gloss. any sheer colored gloss will do. I use Revlon Super Lustrous Gloss in snow pink.
I like this color because it adds shine but no color.

So this is the finished look. I do go over once more with my liner to finish off my lips.
I love the color, depth, dimension and shine this method gives my lips.

I did not have good lighting to show you on my lips, but here is the finished product.

Lighting still not good haha!
But you get the idea :)

I do love creating different lip colors that suit me and my style.

Benefits of the Elf Brush Shampoo

We all love our brushes, they are the most important tools any makeup junkie can have.

They help me create my looks as well as make the ritual of putting on my face so much easier.

I don't know where I would be without my coveted brush collection. Cheap or expensive I love them all.

To keep my brushes in like new condition I wash them weekly.

As I have been doing this for years now, I have begun to dread brush washing day.

It hurts my back sitting at the sink for 45+ minuets.

I did the olive oil and antibacterial soap mixture, but sometimes it would leave my brushes feeling oily and I would have to rewash them the next day. And the drying time with this mixture I didn't care for either.

I was looking for something new, something to make my weekly ritual easier.

On a resent trip to Walmart I picked up a bottle of the Elf Brush Shampoo.

I used this shampoo on all of my brushes that were dirty at the time cheap and expensive. I found that the formula is watery and I was a bit worried, but I continued anyway.

When I really noticed what this shampoo can do was with my MAC 219 brush, the small white brush.

I had some electric blue shadow on it, I thought okay this $3.00 shampoo ain't gonna do crap on this brush.

I was gladly mistaken. It became white as snow once again. The product claims to be antibacterial, removing all traces of makeup from your brushes. And it does!!

After washing I laid them out to dry using my Brush Guards for the larger brushes and laying flat the smaller ones, such as the 219 brush.

About 4 hours later I needed the space I put my brushes on to dry, so I picked them up to move them and noticed they were completely dry! I got a little nervous thinking, okay I messed up all my brushes, it's over!
upon checking them I realized they were all dry and in better condition then then before the washing!

I truly love this brush shampoo and will continue to use it.

Benefits of the Elf  Brush Shampoo.

1. It is watery so you won't need to add that much water.
2. It works quickly no need to over work your brushes.
3. quick drying time, washed and rinsed well in the morning, ready for a evening out.
4. Packaging is easy for travel and dispensing is very controllable.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

On a recent trip to Walmart I picked up a few goodies.

Elf Matte Lip Colors

These pencil lipsticks are amazing! Application is always smooth and the creamy formula makes them great for anyone who appreciates a great lip color. These lip colors can compete with higher end lipsticks all day long. The color range is in itself very real from nude through a vibrant cranberry.

These are perfect and well shaped to create a ombre lip or worn on their own.

Nearly Nude

Praline

Rich Red

Natural

Coral

As you can see these lipsticks are perfectly shaped for application.
They are twist up and you get a lot of product.

From left to right Nearly Nude, Praline, Rich Red, Natural & Coral.

The only color I was a bit disappointed in was (rich red) as you can see its more of a deep berry pink then a red, but I don't mind with a good liner it can still be rocked as a red.
These retail for $3.00

e.l.f. Essential Cover Everything Concealer in corrective yellow.

This is a creamy concealer that will help to hide any redness, however it isn't a full coverage.
I use this product as a highlighter under eyes, down my nose and on my cheek bones
before I set my face with powder.

This Retails for $2.00

As you can see it is quite thick but blends easily leaving a nice highlight behind.

Elf Small Stipple Brush

This brush has received raves reviews from expert to amateur brush lovers.
I have been after this brush for a while now and I understand what all hype is about.

This brush is perfect for concealing, highlighting and contouring.
It is soft and just plain lovely.

An anti-bacterial brush cleanser for thorough cleaning in-between makeup applications. Disinfects brushes to provide a fresh and clean application every time. Washes away traces of dirt, makeup, oil and debris from your brush while conditioning the hair to provide a clean and soft application for every use.

I have been using this to clean my brushes for a while now and I love it!

I hate washing my brushes, but this makes it easier :)

Double Duty Product for Eyes and Lips!

I love me some double duty products, I mean who doesn't love a product that can benefit you in two ways?
I know I do. If you are like me and love to save on money with these types of products check out the post that started it all here.

Garnier Nutritioniste Ultra-Lift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Eye Cream

Garnier Ultra-Lift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Eye Cream with Pro-Retinol from nature works to firm wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes, while being gentle on skin.  Instantly:  Gently smoothes and softens the delicate eye area.  In 2 weeks:  The eye area is noticeably firmer and crow's feet, fine lines and wrinkles are visibly lifted.  With continued use:  The eye area is noticeably lifted, more resilient, and healthy looking.  Garnier Ultra-Lift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Eye Cream is ophthalmologist tested for safety, non-comedogenic (won't clog pores), gentle to skin, allergy tested, and non-greasy.

I love this eye cream it goes on so smooth and silky and really hydrates my dry eye area. I have noticed that my crows feet are no longer a big issue as they used to be. I am not saying its a miracle product the feet are still there, they just aren't at noticeable as they used to be, by my standards at least.

I also use this product on my lips, yes you heard me right. I apply the tiniest amount to my lips after I have applied this to my eyes.

The Company recommends that this product is not to be eaten or swallowed. So I just a apply a very thin coat.

I have to say that I have seen great results with the product on my lips, They are more soft and the fine lines in my lips have all but disappeared, they have a nice smooth feel to them.

This product has made me happy in two ways!! So I will add him to the list of other double duty products I love :)

I don't know if this works with any other eye creams, but I will be trying this out with other eye creams.

Have you heard or tried this method on your lips before? Let me know!

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

I am not a label whore!

Now I want  this stated and noted " I am not a label whore". There I said it. I love my big name brand products don't get me wrong. But There are Products out there that you find for a lot cheaper.

Cheap doesn't mean its cheap. When I say the word cheap I feel like I am degrading the Product, so from now on I am going to try to say something else to describe a product that is not expensive.

I found these goodies at a local dollar store! And I am very proud of my find. I was there to buy a small trash holder for my vanity area. I find that with tissues, Q tips and pencil shavings my little one was not cutting it anymore.

As my 15 year old squidlet and I were walking through the aisles, I noticed a few Milani Products hanging from the display among other makeup products. So I picked out a few lip liners and some cute Rimmel of London eye shadows, Then my squidlet Found a bin full Milani single shadows. I was in heaven, there were so many most were broken of course, but I picked up the once that were in perfect condition, in every color of course!

Now for a dollar these were amazing the color pay off is great! I will admit the Light Pink from Milani did not go very well. I feel it is my skin tone that was the problem. I am olive toned but with a primer all is good.

They do have a bit of a sheen to them, but I don't mind. My favorite is this deep navy that I feel is perfect for fall.

The Liners are amazing, creamy and they go on so smooth I am in love.
The E.L.F Shimmering facial whip has a big pay off and is perfect for highlighting.
The Rimmel products are so cute the packaging and the imprint on the powder are adorable that I almost don't want to ruin it!

Rimmel of London swatches

Milani Swatches

Milani Lip Pencil Swatches

Berry Charming

Red Velvet

Okay, this is my Rimmel, Milani and Elf haul. Even though they are very affordable I love them and they make me happy! So happy I found them :).

What word would you use to describe more cost efficient products?

Let me know what you guys think! Have a Great and Wonderful day :).

Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss

The Lovely Ladies at TwentyThirtyGlam Did a review everyone should check out on a wet and wild lip gloss. This got me thinking about my favorite lip gloss. The Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss.

I'm not really big on lip gloss, But I love this.

It doesn't leave my lips sticky.
It doesn't contain a lot of glitter which I love.
It glides on smooth adding a nice shine to any lip color.
I went with the color Snow Pink Because I don't like glosses that add color to my lipstick, I really just want to add some shine and this works!

As you can see in the swatch its very translucent which I don't mind.
Has good staying power it does fade leaving you with a nice natural sheen. It goes on smooth. I have been using it as a lip stick blender when i'm doing an ombre lip which works wonderful. It wipes away clean, doesn't leave a film after removal like many glosses out there.

I highly recommend the product to anyone who is into lip gloss
or anyone who is new to lip gloss. Great product for the price.
I Cant remember what I paid for it but I do know it was under $10 at CVS.

Check out TwentyThirtyGalm

Have you tried this Lip Gloss yet?
