How to Make a YouTube Banner.

YouTube channel banners are important even if you don't run a channel, but have a Youtube account. It lets people know you are a real person and it adds some personality to your channel. It you run a channel or planning on running a channel one day a banner is very important. Now sure you can put any image up there, but a personalized banner lets people know you mean business and helps with branding. Now, the tutorial.

First you are going to need some kind of image software. Picmonkey.com is great for this if you dont have one, I am using Pain jasc paint shop pro, its old, but it works and I create all my images with this software.

You will need to create 3 images for this tutorial in various sizes.

How to Make a YouTube Banner.

1. Create a Image.

Sized at 2560 width by 1440 height. This will be the back ground for your image So use any color you like.

This is your first layer and should look like this.

2. Create a second Image.

Sized at 2560 width by 423 height. Give this image a different color to separate and add definition, you don't need to do this but it will help you see the different layers.

So after you have layer the two images you should have something that looks like this.

3. Create your banner!

This is where you can get creative and design to you hearts content :)
This image should be sized at 1564 width by 423 height.

So you should have something similar to this, but a lot nicer hehe :)

If you use picmonkey.com You will have to layer the images using the overlays function. It is easier in a image editing program, but if you don't have one this is the best option for free. Also I do not recommend using MS paint for this as it can stretch out fonts and make them look weird.

When Swaps Go Bad

beauty swap

Hello, Beautiful!

Well, I changed the look of my blog again, I think I am addicted. Let me know what you think :)

I was on a social network earlier and I saw something that really upset me. Even though it had nothing to do with me, it upset me. Someone on the interwebs was complaining that they got stuck with a lot of products from the swap and they had to return the items because the other person either ditched or didn't want to swap anymore. I have been hearing a lot of negative stories about swaps.

For those of you who don't know what a swap is. A swap is where to beauty junkies agree to spend a certain amount of money on items they want the other to try, then send off packages and either film or blog about the items received. Now, I have seen some pretty awesome swaps and I would love to do one soon I hope :) But, this is just so sad to hear and I wanted to share some tips I will follow, when I swap.

When Swaps Go Bad

Agree on a budget and stick to it.

Just because you go $50 over budget dont mean they will, so dont expect it.

Know your swappers style.

Send each other wish lists, tag each other on social media with the things the both of you like.

Chat often to check on progress,

but keep items purchased to yourself.
If you feel the swapper isn't shopping then ask what's up on there end, maybe its money problems,
if so suggest the swap be put on hold for a while.

Swap with people you know.

Swap with someone you are familiar with, someone who hangs in your same or distant circles.
Someone who isn't going to want to screw you over.

Final Thoughts.

Beauty bloggers, gurus, junkies, addicts. Whatever you want to call us, this is how we support, play and get to know one another as a community. Anyone who is willing to hurt or harm their own reputation for a few products is a very low standing individual.
We cant hurt each other or we will never stand. There I said it.

QOTD:
Would you swap with someone you didn't know?

Zelo Hair Care Brazilian Keratin Smoothing System

Hello, my beauties!

I was sent a box of the Zelo Hair Care Brazilian Keratin Smoothing system to try.
I have to admit, I looked online to see what other say about it and they say good things, however my hair is getting thinner by the second and I am currently taking supplements to thicken them up, but Jamie on the other hand was in desperate need of a treatment. So I applied it to her hair, to see the wow results I knew we would get! Lets get into this review :)

I received this box which contains a shampoo and the keratin treatment with an additional spray pump.
unfortunately both spray pumps did not work and would not  dispense any product.
There was a large instruction pamphlet that I did just browse through because, Zelo has a video on YouTube guiding you through all the steps! How cool is that :)

I have to admit, this process reminds me of the days when I used to purchase a box of those perm your hair at home sets and we just used to not add curlers, just brush straight. LOL the things I used to do haha!

Here is a picture of Jamie's hair before the treatment. As you can see it has some friz and a lot of wave. Her hair is very thick and hard to manage. She basically runs a flat iron through it, but to be honest the wave still comes through.

We started with Jamie washing her hair with the shampoo provided, being sure not to rub the shampoo in her scalp. She said it felt very clean haha!

We towel dried her hair and I split it into 3 sections as suggested, which truthfully I don't see why we need the step but I followed anyway. I tried to spray the product on her hair but as I said the spray nozzles did not work. So I opened the bottle, pour some onto my hands, while wearing the provided gloves and applied it to sections of her hair. FLASHBACK! I felt like I was doing my own hair back in the day, a very similar process. Apply, comb straight and repeat until head is covered.

It was a nice butter colored formula and felt very rich and thick and smelt very natural. We let it set for the suggested 45 mins. I sent her back into the shower to rinse off the keratin and shampoo she originally washed with.

Jamie claimed her hair felt soft, very different than her natural hair. The final step is to flat iron the hair to seal in the treatment, which back in the day we did with a iron! haha, she did enjoy the stories of my beauty adventures :)

She was upstairs flat ironing her hair as I waited for the reveal and I heard her voice calling from upstairs, MOM! I need you! So I ran as fast as I could thinking I screwed up her hair, I pushed the bathroom door open to see the damage and all I saw was the mink, dark, rich brown shiny hair! It was amazing! All that yelling was that her hand got tired and she wanted me to finish her up, haha!

Jamies hair has never been better and who ever has seen her has complimented her hair!
This treatment lasts up to 30 washes Zelo recommends that you flat iron after every wash to maintain the treatment. This product retails for $35.00

I love the way her hair looks after this treatment and will continue to use it and recommend it.
Very easy to apply and use even a 15 year old could do it.

Thanks you Zelo Hair Care for this lovely product and the memories I shared with my Daughter!

I included a small video that we planned to make for this review, but life and someone named Alan had other plans. Enjoy :)

How to Host your blog Images on Blogger

Hi, there!

Today I wanted to talk to you about image hosting. Image hosting is something every blogger should be aware of. There are a few places to host your images online, like putlocker or photobucket, but they can increase load time and create lag on your blog, as well as completely fall off the face of the earth and your images are never seen from again! I like this method for hosting my navigation menu or my social media bar.

The safest and fastest way to keep your blog images are on the blog hosted site, in this case Blogger.

Host Your Images on Blogger.

Now, the first thing we are going to do is start a dummy post. This is a post that only you will see ever!
So, go into your blogger account and start a new post.

1. Insert your image by clicking the insert image button.

2. Choose  a file from your computer.

3. Add it to the page.

I am sorry I am going through things you already know, but maybe someone else doesn't!

4. Click on the HTML button in the upper left corner.
You  should see code like this.

This is the html code of the picture you uploaded to blogger. This code is the code to the picture hosted on blogger.

So now you can put this picture in your sidebar, as your header, it can even be used as a grabber button. which will require a url.

This method will save on load time and save you from risk of the photo hosting site going down.

If I have confused you, I am truly sorry. Leave me a message down below and I will try to help :)

Where, What and Who update

Hello, people of the interwebs.

Just a quick update  letting you know where I have been, what I have done and who I have been hangin with.

First the where.

I have been mostly home, due to car troubles so I haven't really gone anywhere except to the grocery store. And I have to admit I like smaller grocery stores better than the larger chains stores.

Second the what.

Well,I have done a lot without having a car. I ran two giveaways that went pretty decent, considering they were my first giveaways ever. I won a giveaway , but haven't recieved it yet, but I hear this product is pretty good, so I am excited about that.

I started a new segment on my Youtube channel called Beauty News Network you can read about that on themakeupsquid.com. I hit 300 Subbies on Youtube!  The giveaway really helped with that, but didn't get me to 300.

Third the who.

I haven't seen anyone for a while on account of the car situation. But I like being at home with my lil family.
My friend Julie started her own blog, so I have been helping her out with images and stuff, I will write a spotlight post on her blog soon on themakeupsquid.com

So, thats my update I hope you found it exhilarating.

Beauty News Network

Hello, my lovelies!

I have some big news! News that I didn't think I would ever be sharing with you guys, now its not that big to some people, but it's big to me :)

There has been a project that I have been to get off the ground for a while. I even tried to get a partner involved, but that didn't work out, I think we were aiming at different things and I am kinda glad it didn't work out, because this is my baby and honestly I would cry if someone else tore it up.

Beauty News Network

Or B.N.N for short. B.N.N is a network that will bring you videos that I found insightful, smart or just plain cool, that I feel need to be shared.

I am planning on doing segments on just one subject, like the next episode will feature only skin care videos or articles. Every video will feature a question of the day ( QOTD ) to keep the conversation going.

I do see this growing in my heart and would love to have all my blogger buddies be apart of it.
I am looking for content to feature, video or blogpost, whether its yours or your favorite bloggers, please feel free to email Themakeupsquid@gmail.com anything you would like featured on the B.N.N. As long as it is beauty, blogger, vlogger related.

I am very excited because I uploaded the video last night at around midnight and I already received a lot of views and comments on it, now I know thats not a big deal, but for me its amazing!!!

So here she is! The first episode of B.N.N!

Please leave me any advice, suggestions and/or encouragement to continue this journey.
